How to use the weight & mass converter
Enter a value and select the units to convert from and to. The converter computes the exact result and lists every supported metric and imperial weight unit side by side.
Metric vs. Imperial and US weight units
All modern avoirdupois weight units are defined relative to the kilogram (the SI base unit of mass):
- Metric (SI): milligram (
1 mg = 0.001 g), gram (1 g = 0.001 kg), kilogram (1 kg = 1,000 g), and metric tonne (1 t = 1,000 kg). - Avoirdupois (US & Imperial): ounce (
1 oz = 28.349523125 g), pound (1 lb = 16 oz = 0.45359237 kgexact), and stone (1 st = 14 lb = 6.35029318 kg).
